Types of tourism



Types of tourism

In 20th century travel and tourism industry finally achieved its economic growth.

1. Mass tourism: Instead of selective or elite tourists it focuses on a large number of tourists. Change is transport technology reduced the cost and enabled more people to afford travel expenses. The growth of hotel chain and car rental system also improves mass tourism. More and more countries and their travel agencies are interlinked and more increasing tourist movements.

2. Village and urban tourism: in village tourism, all activities are concerned with villages. A model village is selected. A few guest room and kitchen are developed. without disturbing the village environment. People in the villages continue their daily normal works and guest enjoy participating in the village activities.
Urban tourism is concerned with the city areas. Big hotel and restaurants are developed to cater to the need of luxury tourists. Mostly, it is business people who participate in this types of tourism in Hongkong, Singapore etc.

3. Domestic and international tourism: Domestic tourism focuses on tourism with in the country. It neither requires visa formalities nor border formalities. it generates local currency on the other hand international tourism is concerned with foreign nationals and it generates foreign currency. which help to develop country.

4. Cultural tourist: It is related to the tours of culturally rich cites. The tours are organized to provide knowledge of the culture. This types of tourist is mostly concentrated in the culturally developed areas for example-bhakatapur, patan, jaipur, varanashi etc

5. Adventure tourism: This type of tourism is organized in the remote areas full of challenges. The guest take part in different adventure activities like trekking, rafting, mt climbing, bungee jump etc.

6. Eco-tourism: This type of tourism is organized to study the environment and to observe man nature relationship. Tourism activities are organized in a such a way that it leaves minimum or no impact on the local communities, their culture and on the nature. They provide extensive environmental training to staff. Moreover clients are also aware of preservation and protection of nature.

7. Sustainable tourism: to preserve and protect the local environment and community and to involve them for tourism development .the concept of tourism lays emphasis on public participation. it is  eco friendly kind so the industry will be survive long term.

8. Recreational tourism: although every types of tourism aims at pleasure. Recreational tourism is concerned with recreational activities. they are mostly centralized in big cities such as casino at las vegas, essel world of Mumbai, night club of Bangkok. Developed or developing countries can invest money to develop such centre to attract local foreign tourist.

9. Health tourism: this types of was in big demand during the late 19th century. People visited ,different resorts, sea camps  or spas.

10. controlled, semi-controlled and uncontrolled: In the controlled system of tourism, the government has full and unlimited control over the tourism industry. it controls the number of tourist arrivals, their movement and even visiting sites. in this case, the government has full control over the price also. in the restricted regions of mustang and dolpa  tourism is fully controlled as per the requirements. in the same way the government has controlled the number of lodges in national parks, but it does not control number of tourist visiting national parks
