Nature of tourism
Tourism is a complex subject to understand. It is highly influenced
by factors such as seasonable, change in income, change in taste and lifestyle
and attitude. Tourism can be differentiated from other travels in terms of
visit and behaviors of travels at destinations.
1.Tourism is an
intangible ,non material product: it is related to services, facility,
pleasure, leisure etc are not possible to be visualized ,mountain ,river ,lake
hotel ,ship, boat, hotel, restaurant, airplane, bus etc a meal for example in a restaurant has more
tangible element but image, friendliness, perception, helpfulness, courtesy
security trust are intangible
2.Tourism is a
combination of economic(measurable) and non economic(immeasurable) goods-visitors
arrived in a country, use a airspace, train tickets, hotel, beds can be
measured but pleasure leisure ,comfort , relaxation, recreation cannot be
measured.
3. Ownership of
tourism product of non transferable: buying a hotel room does not mean he
can resale. He/she can use rooms' facilities for the certain times only
4. Tourism is assembling
product: total travel services is impossible to provides by one single
enterprises -air tickets, bus, train. Sight seen places etc so it is a joint effort
of several organizations.
5.Tourism product
does not move: tourism product cannot be moved or transported. The customer
need to move to the product.
6.The demand of
tourism product is very unstable: it is very sensitive business. its demand is influenced by
different factor such as season, economic , political, religion and other
event.
7.A luxurious concept:
Tourism product being leisure, pleasure, and comfort. it is a most
luxurious concept. As tourism is economic activity .it is related with rich
people. so our customers are from influential society, advanced, rich &
intellectual.
8. Tourism product is
perishable (non storable): Service product is typically fixed in time and
space. A service "dies" if not sold within a given time. It cannot be
stored. if it is not sold in a particular time/day the potential revenue they
are supposed to earn.
9. Tourism business
has unlimited possibilities: As tourism is the creation of idea or
knowledge. there is no limitation of ideas. Accommodation has limitation trekking
or rafting company may have limited. business but tourism has unlimited
opportunity.
10. Citizen of
country is directly or indirectly involves: Their behaviors, response
represent the image of destination. Our tradition, custom, religion, festivals,
friendship motivate them to visit Nepal.
11. Pay here get
there or pay now get later: Bought in India and use in Nepal
Tourism has a special
character of parasite. it is survival/prosperity is based on others economy,
culture, rules, regulation, political situation.
